Not Baked Ziti in the Pot2013-10-08

Note about the sauce. I mix about 50/50 marinara/favorite spaghetti sauce in a bowl. You don’t have to do this. Use all marinara or all favorite spaghetti sauce. 60 ounces seems to work for me and makes it a little on the wet side. More and it’s too wet, less and too dry.
Spray the inside of your pot with non-stick. A must.
Mix well your ricotta, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 cup mozzarella, salt and pepper and set aside in a bowl.
Place half of the uncooked noodles in the pot. Evenly sprinkle half of the chopped onion on to the noodles.
Pour about 3 cups of pasta sauce over the noodles. Make sure the noodles and the sauce are mixed well and even in the pot.
Take half of the cheese mixture and layer in the pot. Use a spoon and drop cheese balls evenly placed in the pot.
Repeat the noodle, onion, spaghetti sauce, and cheese layers.
Evenly pour the rest (should be 1.5 cups) of the sauce on top. Cover and Cook on low for 4 hours.
Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese over the top. Evenly sprinkle and mix up the fresh basil on top. Cover and cook for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted.

- 36 oz. jars of spaghetti sauce
- 24 oz. jar of marinara sauce
- 15 oz. ricotta cheese
- 2 Cups shredded mozzarella divided
- 1 egg
- 1 Cup grated parmesan cheese divided
- 16 oz. of Ziti (1 box)
- 10 fresh basil leaves chopped
